Relational Concepts Approach (RCA)
A structured way to build clarity in problem solving.
The Relational Concepts Approach (RCA) is a structured way of solving mathematical word problems, designed with extensive teaching experience and tailored for Singapore primary learners.
RCA shifts the focus away from memorising steps to developing a relationship-first mathematical mindset. It encourages learners to first understand the underlying relationships and present them in clear and concise representations. Once those relational concepts are clear, strategies and calculations follow naturally.
At the heart of RCA lies our proprietary ORI Conceptual Framework, which guides learners to systematically break down a word problem to identify the mathematical objects involved, their relationships and the information provided.
